Catherine Ford, born in Bloomsbury (London) in London, was raised by her mother, grandmother, as well as her godparents. Her father abandoned her family. While a small infant, Ford struggled with anxious disorders, obsessive/compulsive and was afflicted through word-related associations. Ford's passion for acting started as a child. Ford joined at the National Youth Theatre. After being admitted at the Sylvia Young Theatre School for brief time, Ford decided that it was not the right place for her. Ford returned for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and, after her fourth attempt she was admitted. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring for Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993 but, by that time she already had made her television debut in a 1991 episode in the show Surgical Spirit; she adopted the name of her professional "Catherine Tate". Tate began her TV debut in 1991, appearing on television shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. Alongside her usual performances in the theatre, Tate also joined with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. But Tate quickly began gaining attention for her stand-up comic that she incorporated into her resume in the year 1996.
